Amundsen Sea

Amundsen Sea: today is another day at sea as we make our way to the Ross Sea.  Yesterday we got to see a blue whale which was amazing!  It was too far out to take any pictures so instead I just enjoyed watching them from the bridge.

This morning we made a slight detour to sail past the B22A iceberg that separated from the Thwaites ice sheet.  It’s 44x24 nautical miles and took quite some time to pass.  Right as we approached the iceberg, the rare Ross Seal was spotted on an ice flow.  Below is a picture of the seal and a spunky Adélie penguin.

Looks like the penguin is waving to you all! Love the colors of the icebergs and water. Very cool.
